Martin spent 14 years as co-owner and head chef of Longrain Sydney, one of the most awarded modern Thai restaurants Australia has produced, taking out Best New Restaurant in its opening year, then ran Longrain Melbourne for a further seven. He trained under David Thompson and has written two Thai cookbooks.

Short Grain has built its own name since opening in 2023: 4.8 stars on Google from a loyal following of regulars, and a place in Gourmet Traveller's 2026 Top 100, which called it "a stalwart of brilliant Thai cooking" making "a compelling case for Brisbane's best Thai."
